“For us it was a no brainer, we had seen Mark Jay’s work from friends weddings and have loved all the detail and love that goes into every photograph”

Adrian + Monica met in high school. They quickly became friends and at the end of year 11, they began dating. Almost 8 years later, Adrian told Monica they were going bar hopping in the city to celebrate Monica’s best friend finishing university. They were popping in to the Crowne hotel to meet up with their friends, Monica none the wiser. When they got to the room, it was filled with flowers and balloons and Adrian got down on one knee!

When it came to booking their wedding photography, Monica says: “I instantly fell in love with [Mark’s] style of photography. All his photos are always so natural and the couple always look so happy and so at ease. You can see the amount of love that goes into every wedding through every photo.”

Adrian + Monica describe their wedding day as “perfect”. Monica says, “We were so blessed to be surrounded by so much family and friends to celebrate our special day with. We had a beautiful church ceremony which was really important to us and had such a fun and upbeat reception.”

They said their vows at their local parish, Our Lady of Lourdes in Baulkham Hills. Monica says, “There are so many beautiful standout moments of the day but I definitely think my mum walking me down the aisle and seeing Adrian at the alter as she handed me off to him was really special.”

Following the ceremony, we headed into the city for our bridal party portraits, a beautiful mix of editorial and candid-style shots. Monica says: “We really wanted someone who captured candid and natural moments throughout the day. For us it was a no brainer, we had seen Mark Jay’s work from friends weddings and have loved all the detail and love that goes into every photograph. It was important to have someone who makes us feel comfortable on the day as well so with Mark’s calm and professional attitude we knew we would be well looked after.”

With no detail left unturned, their reception at Doltone House Darling Island was stunningly decorated by Tia Mia Floral Events, with gorgeous pops of blue. Monica says,  “We wanted a classical wedding styling but with a touch of colour to make it a little bit different. We both love the colour blue so we thought white florals with a touch of blue would be a nice standout for the reception which then flowed into other aspects of styling such as our invitations, bridesmaid dresses and bouquets.”

All in all, it was a wonderful day. Monica kindly says:

“The whole photography experience has been so joyful from the beginning. Leanne has been so kind and professional replying to any questions we may have had. Mark was so comforting and reliable during our engagement photoshoot and then again during our wedding day which made the day run so smoothly. Mark and Leanne were always happy to provide suggestions when we were unsure which made the entire process really easy. We are so grateful to have had Mark Jay Photography for our wedding and couldn’t be happier with our photos!”
