Cody + Victoria have literally known each other their whole lives, starting from around 6 months old when they sat side by side in prams with their mums while their dads played together on the same soccer team. Victoria says: “We grew up together as our parents are best friends and our families would always joke that if we were still single by 30 we should end up marrying each other. We went through high school together as best friends, but we both had little things for each other without saying anything to one another. We both got drunk at the club at a mutual friends birthday party when we were 19, had our first kiss on the dance floor and the rest has been history!”
Three and a half years later, Cody arranged a lunch date, suggesting they stop along the way at Athol Beach, a sentimental spot where they enjoyed a picnic in their first year of dating. When they got there, Cody ran to the bathroom while Victoria waited around. Unbeknownst to her, the high tide had come into the proposal spot and Cody needed to buy some time to allow the set up to be ready. Victoria says:
“Once he got out, I wanted to walk in one direction while he insisted walking in another, I obliviously obliged and began walking down a set of stairs that led to the most gorgeous setup with sunflowers everywhere overlooking the beach. It was all a blur but I do remember him getting down on one knee and myself screaming “Yes, yes yes!””
Cody + Victoria planned their wedding at their local parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Victoria said in the lead up, “I am most looking forward to seeing Cody’s face at the end of the aisle, I watch this exact moment at every wedding I go to. I still cannot believe I get to marry my best friend and be able to celebrate such a special moment with our greatest family and friends”.
Following the ceremony, we went for photos at Balmoral Beach in Mosman. Photography was a key planning point for our bride. Victoria says: “I have been obsessed with Mark Jay Photography since I first saw a wedding on my instagram when I was 17 years old! I love how Mark beautifully captures moments and how he can make you instantly feel so comfortable. He was a non-negotiable and was the first vendor I booked before I had even confirmed my reception! He is the best in the business in my opinion!”
Our newlyweds enjoyed their reception at Zest Waterfront Venues in Mosman. In the lead up, Cody said “I am looking forward to entering our reception as husband and wife, because we will be surrounded by our loved ones, it will be the most euphoric feeling”. And indeed it was! The room was filled with love as two families came together, from best friends to in-laws.
