John + Christina have one of the most perfect and wholesome meeting stories. Christina says: “It all began at a hair salon. My mum, John’s mum and I went to the same hairdresser. It was the week before Christmas and my mum went to the hairdresser and spoke to her about how she hopes her daughter will find a nice guy. The very next day, Johns mum went and had that very same conversation with that hairdresser, hoping her son can find a nice girl. The hairdresser remembered the conversation between her and my mum and told John’s mum that she has a client with a single daughter. I also happened to go that week for a haircut and the hairdresser asked if it was okay to give my number to this guy named ‘John’ as his mum is one of her clients. I thought to myself, sure why not, I don’t have anything to lose. John’s mum gave him my number. Although John was very hesitant to text as he had never been on a blind date before, he plucked up the courage and texted me a few days later to meet up for a coffee (we both had no idea what each other looked like). We met at a cafe in Surry Hills 3 days later – we clicked straight away, it was as though we knew each other for a long time, and the rest is history”
Two years of dating followed and John planned a trip to the Hunter Valley for Christina’s 30th birthday. “One of the reasons was to go stargazing as he had bought me a telescope as part of my birthday present and knew that was something I have always wanted to do. When we were star gazing (around midnight) he had told me to look at this very bright star through the telescope. After I looked through the telescope to see the star, I went to turn to him to say how amazing it looked, and it was then that he had gotten on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I cried, it was such a special moment, especially how much thought he had put into the proposal”.
John + Christina said their vows at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Marrickville and their joy at becoming husband + wife was truly special. We went for our bridal party portraits around The Rocks with one of their highlights of the day being the shots we took in the vines. John + Christina wanted timeless, classic and natural looking photos which is why they say they booked Mark Jay Photography.
Christina says: “Our wedding day was beautiful. It was everything we imagined it would be. It ran so smoothly and we felt like we were in very good hands with Mark Jay. They made us feel very comfortable from the very start and we could not have chosen a better photographer to capture our day!”
John + Christina were excited to dance and relax after all the formalities and they did just that with a fun reception at Conca D’oro Lounge, led by MC John Saroukos with traditional bouzouki by Tassos Bouzouki.
