For Simon and Veronica, a celebratory birthday lunch in October turned into one of the most memorable days neither of them will ever forget. The day of the proposal started with a lunch to celebrate both of their birthdays in October. Simon had been up early, saying he had to go into work and wasn’t sure when he’d be back. Veronica reassured him it was no big deal and suggested they just cancel lunch. What she didn’t know was that Simon was busy setting up something far bigger — buying flowers, arranging everything at The Crown, and preparing for the surprise proposal
Veronica said that during the lunch, “Simon seemed stressed, I thought it was because he wanted to just relax and enjoy lunch together, but little did I know it was because the room at the Crown was still being set up and wasn’t ready yet.” After a quick lunch, they were hurried out by the waiter, who told them the restaurant was getting ready to close for dinner service.
Simon then suggested a walk to Barangaroo for “ice cream”, but really ended up being a detour to stall time for the setup to be ready. Veronica says “I kept asking Simon why we are going the longest way to Barangaroo (I was in heels) and he just kept saying the roads were closed.” Veronica later found out the detour was to avoid seeing Simon’s brother driving past on his way back from the Crown where they were dropping off flowers.
“Apparently, Simon saw the car drive past and that is why he kept twirling me around, holding my hand, giving me kisses etc. I thought he was just being super romantic that day”. When they arrived at The Crown, Simon suggested they take a look around. Veronica assumed they were just going to tour the hotel’s restaurants or pool. “We were walking and randomly he swiped a card which opened a door and there was the red carpet, the roses, the sign, photos of us together and such a beautiful moment together (of course I was crying and in so much shock). The most beautiful special moment just the two of us.”
Simon and Veronica said their vows in front of their family and friends at St Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Woolwich. Following this, we took our couple for photos around their venue, Miramare Gardens. Simon + Veronica chose Mark Jay Photography because they wanted “Beautiful, natural photography, unposed and in the moment” and that is what we delivered!
Our newlyweds joined their loved ones for a night filled with music, joy and everlasting memories at Miramare Gardens, where they partied the night away!
